Last Call at Valhalla

Last Call at Valhalla

3 min read

Last Friday night there was a Last Call at the Great Hall at Valhalla Winery in Veneta. There wasn’t a Viking funeral with a pyre on a stone ship. Instead it was a wonderful celebration with the Valhalla Family and  their devoted friends who have supported this wonderful venue for the last three or four years. We were so happy to be part of this event.

On February 28th Valhalla Winery will close its doors at its current location and start the moving process to the new Great Hall a few miles down the road. The new location will be located at the Normann family home, higher ground worthy of being the great hall. All Norsemen and women embrace their journey to Valhalla. Eric and Lorrie will continue to produce wine using their estate grown grapes. The hard work they put into establishing the Valhalla brand and quality was not for naught.

Here is the announcement that Lorrie lovingly posted on Facebook recently:

Dear Friends,

We are excited to announce that we have been blessed with an offer to buy the winery property that we simply could not ignore. We will be relocating our Valhalla brand to our Estate Vineyard that we purchased from King Estate in 1997. It is located just a couple of miles from the current spot and is where we lived and have raised our family.

This opportunity fulfills a dream that two young wine lovers with two little boys had decades ago when they bought a 12 acre Pinot Gris Vineyard with no house. That began our passion and journey in the wine industry. We have worked our way to this time in our lives where we can finally live and work on the property that holds our hearts.

Our last day of operation at the current location will be Wednesday February 28th. We will be open 12-5 this weekend and next weekend, please stop by and say hi!

Eric and I cannot express how much your love and support has meant to us the last four and a half years. While this transition is a blessing that we could only have dreamed of, the hard part will be not seeing all of you as often as we would like. Thank you for being with us as we built our brand. You are the foundation of all that we have accomplished and for that we are forever in your debt.

This is not goodbye! We will open our doors for special wine tastings, private dinners, Wine Camp and fundraising packages in the summer months. We are excited for the opportunity to get our wine into the marketplace and to continue celebrating life with all of you.

Love,
Eric and Lorrie Normann

Events like wine camp, the wine club and smaller special events will continue, but the days of Adult Proms and Beach Parties may be behind us. While we are feeling a bit melancholy about this special place, we are thrilled for Lorrie and Eric Normann and their two sons as they embark on yet another great new adventure.  (For those of you who are wondering, Melissa will be moving onto another of our favorite wineries, Walnut Ridge. I know she would love to see you there.)
