I feel like I’m a kid getting to go to the candy store with my best friend and partner in wine, Alyse. We’re so excited we can hardly stand it. A weekend of wine, wineries, seafood and fun!
Is it really a candy store? Depends on what your idea is of candy! This is Winery Wanderings’ first trip to the Newport Wine and Seafood Festival. This weekend we’ll be joining thousands of other wine and seafood enthusiasts in Newport, Oregon. The promoters say it wouldn’t be winter without the Newport Seafood & Wine Festival. Showcasing over 150 premier Northwest wines, culinary professionals and regional artisans, the Newport Seafood and Wine Festival draws nearly 25,000 visitors each year. Many of our favorite wineries will be there along with many we have not tried before. We are looking forward to this amazing event! We’ll be meeting with new winemakers and owners, hopefully finding out what’s new and happening in the industry.
For the last 30 years of the Festival’s thirty-nine year history, Gold, Silver, Bronze and Best-In-Show awards have been handed out to the most consistent achievers in a Commercial Wine Competition marked by one strong field after another. This early-in-the-year look at Northwest wines offers clear evidence of which wineries are on track and who to watch at other festival showcases around the country throughout the year.
We promise to bring the Festival to our blog with lots of pictures and words of wisdom. If you can’t make it there, please experience it through our eyes and taste buds.
